World Environment Day 2019 in Halyps

In September 2015, a new sustainable development agenda has been adopted by world leaders to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development enshrines 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We, at Halyps cement, in order to be aligned with the 2030 Agenda and on occasion of the World Environment Day, successfully completed the coast cleaning initiative in Paralia Aspropyrgos in front of the Cement Plant on June 7th, 2019. This was a joined initiative of Sustainable Development and Human Resources departments.
 
Every year, on this day we all think about our individual and collective responsibility towards our planet, aiming to recall the need to protect global biodiversity, energy sources and natural resources. Beyond the thoughts, acts play a more important role. For this reason, the coast cleaning initiative in the area of Paralia Aspropyrgos is a point of reference. 
It took place in the morning of June 7th, 2019 and was carried out by Halyps’ volunteering employees and contractors who gathered all plastic and other polluting items into huge bags. 
 
At the end of the initiative, all 11 bags were safely transferred to the recycling center of Aspropyrgos to be categorized according to its nature (plastics, metals, batteries, etc.).
